Dear Friends and Customers:
After a great deal of careful consideration, it is with great regret that I must announce the end of LowGenius Web Design.
While my appreciation for all my customers over the years is without limit, the simple fact is this: I've been doing this for eight years, and I've made a total of maybe a thousand dollars for each of those years. While obviously one cannot turn one's nose up at a thousand dollars, one also hopes that one will be self-sufficient some day through hard work and honest effort.
A grand a year just isn't self-sufficiency. I'm not getting where I want to go with this, and it's time to turn it loose and focus my attention on other things that will put me closer to the things I want to achieve in this life. After this last year, which has included two cross-country drives, an adventure living in my van in California unexpectedly, returning to my home town after fifteen years, and finally the passing of my mom yesterday morning (with me stuck 800 miles away in Michigan), one thing has become clear to me:
I've got things to do, and I'm not getting them done.
I am spread too thin, with too many interests and activities, and I am no longer able to give the kind of quality attention to my customers that I've taken pride in over the years...and the effort, time, attention, and other resources that I've been expending in the attempt to do so is serving only to create shortages of time, energy, and cash in other critical areas of my life.
Rather than continuing to leave you frustrated and uninformed, I think it best for all concerned if I take myself out of the 'running' for future design contracts.
I will continue to offer free hosting space for as long as I have it (I'll be keeping my blog online; lowgenius.com will be repurposed); please have your new designer(s) contact me for FTP access or whatever else is needed; backups of all graphic and other files are available if needed.
It is NOT my intention to delete or remove any sites; additionally, you can continue to maintain your domain registration through LowGenius until forever, as that service costs nothing to run and takes no time or energy to maintain. Obviously, should you choose, you are more than welcome to transfer your domain registrations to another registrar at will.
Again, this is not a decision I have made lightly, or quickly. I hope that it's not too inconvenient for anyone. Thanks very much to those of you who have stuck with me over the years; I'm sorry that I couldn't find more of you and make this thing run the way I'd hoped.
Best Regards,
John H. DeJong
