A new tool for keeping the information moving, and a new tool for displaying it.
We’re adopting Windows Live Writer to post to all of our blogs now; this entry is the first test of the tool on LowGenius.Com. Hope it works!
We’re excited about getting Vertigo’s excellent SlideShow2 app, based on Microsoft’s Silverlight platform, working here at LowGenius.Com. There are some down-sides to going this route. For one thing, Silverlight doesn’t run at all on the Google Chrome browser. For another, Silverlight is not (yet) as ubiquitous as Flash, so a lot of folks will likely get prompted to install the plugin. We have no idea whether Silverlight works in IE6, or how well.
On the other hand, the upside…well, see for yourself at this test page: http://www.lowgenius.com/Portals/0/slideshow/web_port/Default.html Very smooth, attractive, and highly customizable interface. Breaking images into separate ‘albums’ is a snap, and even with having to tweak for use in DNN it only took about 30 minutes to get it installed and get a test run working. As we get more comfortable with this tool, we’ll eventually look at finding a way to roll it out to clients for use on their own sites.
